The symbol 0 is used to represent the heavy iron ball that is attached to you after reading a scroll of punishment.
Many players like to change the boulder option to "0", which is a better graphic representation of boulders, and far easier to see than "`" (backtick).
You can also use the keys 0–9 to specify a numeric prefix for a command or in a menu.
