A fishing pole is an item in SLASH'EM. It is a polearm, and thus uses this kind of skill. It can be used to fish. Applying a fishing pole on a water square may have the following effects :

• You hook yourself, dealing yourself damage
• You hook an item on the target square, retrieving it
• You may "snag garbage from the water, which gives you an uncursed +0 pair of low boots
• You catch tonights dinner, a cram ration
