NetHack considers metallic objects that are not iron, copper, platinum, or silver to be metal. Metal objects do not rust or otherwise erode.

The following objects are metal:

• bamboo arrow
• scalpel
• tsurugi
• whistle
• tin
• some wands (tin, iridium, zinc, aluminium, and uranium)
