1. Do you get benefits of exercise when wearing Gloves of Strength or Dexterity?

2. What happens if one loses strength due to poisoning, then exercises it until it gains a point, then applies a unicorn horn? To what level will it rise (if any)?

Two external sources are cited here mentioning exercise. One of them (http://www.helsinki.fi/~vviitane/spoilers/exercise) says the formula for stat point increases is 1-(stat)/20. The other (http://www.geocities.com/dcorbett42/nethack/exercise.htm says the formula is (18-(stat))/19. What gives? What is the actual formula?
