What about bones?
Edit
Are the Gnomish Mines eligible for bones files?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by LoATS (talk • contribs) .
- Yes, under the same conditions as any other part of the dungeon.--Ray Chason 15:42, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Recent(ish) strategy addition
Edit
Having written the original version of the strategy section, I noticed the following had been added:
- Before entering the mines, you'll want to have some minimal preparation done. Try to get everything listed here if you can before going into the mines. Explore the main dungeon for them down to the Oracle level. You should be able to find most of these laying around, but some of them may need to be purchased from ashop. If you can't get all of them before entering the mines, then make sure you have all of them before going past Mine Town. Some or all of these things can be found in the mines themselves. Here is the list: a Magic Whistle, Armor Class of 0, Knowledge of at least one spell, Experience level 4. Its also nice to have a blessed Touchstone, or an uncursed one if you're playing a Gnome, but this isn't necessary.
I'm really quite unsure about this. A magic whistle? I probably don't ever find one of those in the majority of my winning games. Certainly not something you would count on picking up before the Oracle and Minetown. Knowledge of a spell? I bet most Valkyries and Barbarians never even bother casting a spell. And which spell? Detect food? Restore ability? A touchstone? Again, I don't think I've ever used one unless I've been playing an Archeologist. These can't be GENERAL points of strategy, can they? AC0 is maybe a good guideline; I like to have 50 HP, which is more than XL 4 sometimes, about right for other roles. But the rest...I don't think this is good, generally applicable advice. I'm inclined to remove it. Thoughts?
- The wiki moved to nethackwiki.com, but Wikia won't delete the old site. That's why it's slowly being filled with crap. Drive-by visitors will hopefully see this site is deprecated.
- Come join us at the new site. It already has three times as many page views, almost all the editor activity, lots of improvements, and is linked to by almost all respectable roguelike sites. --Tjr 13:53, January 30, 2011 (UTC)
