Closed for inventory[]

What does "closed for inventory" mean? WHY do stores "close for inventory"? (Other than to be 'realistic' and a bit annoying?) How long do they remain closed? What happens if you teleport into a closed shop? Etc. etc.

I think what it means is that the door to the shop was generated locked by the RNG and this is just the message that it gives you so you know there is a shop on the other side. --MadDawg2552 04:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

They will be closed permamently, but you can open the door by a key or lockpick. The shopkeeper will not anger from this and the shop works normally then. 62.148.102.102 10:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Probability error[]

I noticed that the listed probabilities for items in a lighting shop didn't add to 100%. Checking the code in shknam.c, the shtypes function, tallow candles are 50% of the items, not 40%. This error is also in room-343.txt, -341.txt, -340.txt, -330.txt, and it seems odd to me that it's never been caught before. - Tagmata 00:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Restocking?[]

Can shops restock if there's a shopkeeper present? No One Special 13:44, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

under no circumstances, even if the shop was deserted and the keeper has just returned from another level and so forth. -Tjr 16:19, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Messages[]

Message Reason
"For you, scum..." You have angered the shopkeeper, and taken an item.
"The list price of the (object) is..." The shop keeper can't tell you the price.

Could anyone test in wizard mode if the same message is generated with paralisation? I only tested with sleeping.

According to the shk.c and if I read it correctly the message should be generated even if the shopkeeper is paralyzed. —ZeroOne (talk / @) 10:59, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
