I used fingerof death quite regurlarly with that. Also, in slash'em, it allows the cast of enchant armor much quicker.
- From my own use of this artifact, I know that the portals do not persist. You #invoke the artifact, a portal appears, you walk through, and the portal immediately disappears. I never tried to flee a non-teleport level using this method, but after reading the code at artifact.c#line1309, I think that it would work. (If the top quest level is no-teleport, you can still take the quest portal back to the main dungeon. This would be similar, except that the portal is not permanent.) The portals apparently fail if you carry the Amulet of Yendor or are in the endgame. --Kernigh 15:00, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Non-teleport levels only place restrictions on teleporting on that same level. Level-teleport and the Eye's branchport ability work just as normal. The only exception is you will only levelport into the wizard's tower if you already started in it. --Tjr 14:50, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Astral Plane Edit
I've had the Eye before, but this question keeps bugging me. Can you drop the Amulet of Yendor on Astral Plane and branchport away? In case Death is about to take the last 6 of your 23 hitpoints. Just wondering.
- A quick Wizard mode test comes back negative. The standard failed *port message, "You feel disoriented for a moment" is all that happens, consistent with the whole branchport in posession of the Amulet, as well as the whole "Beware! There is no return! Still climb? [y/n]" thing... -- Kalon 05:09, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Does blessing or cursing effect this item's power regeneration? --220.127.116.11 04:01, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
