I just revamped this article, but one thing I wasn't sure about that I included anyway is that tripe rations carried in your inventory make pets stay closer to the player. That seems to be the general consensus at RGRN and my own experience as well (certainly seems to make more of difference than tin whistles, which supposedly make a pet follow you for a bit - I can't notice a difference at all). That is true (for carnivorous pets, as this article states). A comment at dogmove.c, line 423 says, "if you have dog food it'll follow you more closely". DOGFOOD means treat. --Kernigh 02:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
