Holiday themes

Holiday themes are fun, even on old abandoned wikis like this one. And since it's almost the end of the year, we now have a new year theme.

It won't last long, and we'll revert to the normal theme on January 10th. That gives us about 13 days to enjoy the purple background and new message on the home page.

What we need to do now is discuss whether we want to do this again. If a majority of users enjy the holiday theme, all's well and good so far. If not, your opinion will be considered.

Provide your feedback, so we know if this is appreciated.

PS: new forum layout? huh.

PPS: Let's also have a new page for nethack fanfics. If we have enough.

Sad that you're the only name popping up for edits :/ Nethack is a great game and now that I've been able to semi-consistently make it to Medusa I'd love to expand some of the stubs.

As for the theme I love it, and if you've got the energy and time I'd like to see more :]

also, I was stuck up on medusa too. You should probably finish sokoban and save-scum until you get the Amulet of reflection. Then medusa should be no trouble at all.

Secondly, because there are so many monsters on the level, you'd have a few scrolls of earth. They are helpful when there's so much water around, and when you're surrounded.

Thirdly, find a way to get past the water.

Lastly, read the page on medusa. It's very helpful.

And we could always use more edits. Contribute to the wiki when you can.

I have actually only one way of getting past medusa reliably.

WoD > go to the upstairs, maybe zapping a WoD to make headway there, put on a towel or blidfold and bludgeon her to death on the staircase. Seems to work every time, and this time I got a SoR and BoL from the statue, and had 6 holy waters to boot at the time.

I'll edit where I can, maybe expanding or noting where some corpses are acidic where it's not put in, but I'm still such a beginner to Nethack. I think I'll need to ascend a few times to feel like I have a grip on the game. So 5~6 years from now maybe :P
