Wizards are very difficult characters to play. They start out with 3 or 4 scrolls, 2 rings, one musical instrument, 2 already learned spell books (one these is always force bolt), a +0 cloak of magic resistance, a +0 quarterstaff, a blindfold (occasionally), 4 or 5 potions, 1 or 2 wands, and a tame kitten. Wizards begin the game with low HP and low power (magical energy used in casting spells), making them very easy to be killed.
